Richard Erbe and I agree to continue our recent trend of doing easier hikes than some we have done in the past.  We decide on a five day hike going down the South Kaibab Trail to the Tipoff Point and then east on the Tonto with nights at Cremation Creek, Boulder Creek, Grapevine Creek, and Cottonwood Creek.  We will then exit out the Grandview. 

     We had invited four others to join us, but, one by one, they drop out, leaving only the two of us.  We meet at the South Rim a day early and assemble our gear for the hike.  Tomorrow we are going to drop off my car to Grandview Point and leave his car at the Backcountry Office parking lot.  We will then catch the Hikers Express Shuttle out to Yaki Point.
