My group is planning a Salt Trail hike in a few days, so I decide to do a day hike down to Stegosaurus Rock to cache two gallons of water for our trip out the Tanner Trail. Although it is no fun carrying this much water downhill, it is less fun carrying a lot of water uphill on the Tanner Trail all the way from Tanner Rapids. It is raining as I make my way down. With slick rocks, I have to take a little care not to slip on the steep trail. I reach Stegosaurus Rock in an hour and a half. This is our intended campsite for the last night of our hike. I find a nice Brittle Bush to hide my two gallon containers of water out of sight and start back up. The rain has quit, so I am able to shed my rain gear. Two hours later I reach the top. Below are some pictures taken near Stegosaurus Rock on a prior hike. MAIN INDEX | HIKING INDEX | BACK TO TRIP REPORTS
