This will be my third attempt to get to the top of Racetrack Knoll from Sowats Point.  I meet the group at the Jacob Lake Inn for supper and we discuss our hike starting tomorrow.  The remnants of hurricane Rachel dumped record amounts of rain in Arizona last week.  As a test drive, Richard Erbe tried to get out to Sowats Point today, but was turned back by all the standing water on the road.  Out of an abundance of caution, we agree to change the starting point of our hike from Sowats Point to the cabin in upper Jumpup Canyon.  Our exploration of the area around Sowats Point will not be affected by this new starting point, but we will not have time to make another attempt to reach Racetrack Knoll.
