ALL HIKERS

PREFACE

This will be my fifth hike with Keith Beaty.  I have done all these trails before, but Keith has not done the Escalante and the New Hance, so I agree to do them with him.  Our plan is to go down the Tanner, across the Escalante, and up the New Hance for five permit nights below the rim.  With the wettest winter in memory in northern Arizona, there is a lot of snow at the top of the Tanner and New Hance, so we will both be bringing Microspikes for traction.

I am driving from Oklahoma and arriving a day early, allowing me to check everything out.  Keith is flying into Phoenix and taking a shuttle to the Canyon.  Our plan is to drop my car near the New Hance trailhead and take a taxi to Lipan Point to start the hike.
