This is a hike I have wanted to do for some time, but the "scary" spot near Marion Point kept me away from it.  Last year the Park Service did extensive renovation work on the "scary" spot and people now report that this spot has lost most of its teeth.  This will be my second hike with Bob and Keith while Keith and I have done several hikes together.  Our plan is for a very leisurely nine-day hike: one night going and coming at Saddle Mountain and six permit nights below the rim.

       I am driving from Oklahoma and arriving early, allowing me to do a day hike from the high access area to the Saddle Mountain trailhead to cache some water.  Bob and Keith are flying into Vegas and driving from there to the House Rock Valley parking area.
