DIRECTIONS FOR FINDING THE NANKOWEAP CREEK PETROGLYPHS

Directions for finding the Petroglyphs near Nankoweap Creek are:

Proceed upstream in Nankoweap Creek from the main campsite 10-15 minutes -or- proceed upstream in Nankoweap Creek from where the trail meets the creek 5-10 minutes.  You will soon pass a large drainage coming in from your right.  While continuing to walk upstream in Nankoweap Creek, make your way over to the right side of the creek bed going upstream and continue past the large drainage until you come to two large, gray boulders on your right.  These boulders are near several Cottonwood trees and a very small drainage coming in from your right.  Immediately past the gray boulders, turn right and proceed up the small drainage about one hundred feet to a large red rock on your right with the Petroglyphs.  Pictures of the gray boulders and red rock are below.  Archeological studies on these Petrolglyphs indicate they were placed on this rock around 1050-1175 A.D.
