The Transept Trail begins below the North Rim Lodge.
The trail is gravel with very little elevation change and very easy walking. It loops to the north and passes below the west side of the Lodge. The trail meanders back and forth headed from the Lodge to the North Rim campground.
At about the half-way point, you come to a bench with very nice views of the inner Canyon. Shortly thereafter you reach the trail junction for employees staying at the worker's residences.
Continuing westward on this trail takes you to the North Rim campground. At only 1.5 miles long, this is one of those trails that is fun to hike without a lot of energy being expended. MAIN INDEX | BACK TO TRIP REPORTS | BACK TO NORTH RIM DAY HIKES
